1. Q:  Can I pay for my parking ticket using a credit or debit card?
A: We only accept cash and checks in the office , but parking tickets can be paid for online at www.paymycite.com. The company charges a $3.95 processing fee per transaction.
 
2. Q: My citation payment is late — I’m not going to have a warrant out for my arrest am I?
A: No, if left unpaid, the citation fine will increase and will eventually be attached to your vehicle registration renewal.
 
3. Q: How can I contest a parking citation?
A: You can request an Administrative Review of the citation by completing and returning the attached form or or writing a letter to the Department.  The form is also available in our business office.  Parking Citation- Request For Administrative Review
 
4. Q: How long does it take to get an answer?
A: Usually no more than 7-10 days.  The decision will be mailed to the address you provide us.
 
5. Q: How do I get a residential parking permit?
A: Applicants must provide proof of residency (i.e. lease agreement, PG&E bill, copy of title, etc.) and current registration showing Capitola address on all vehicles.

Village residents are allowed two residential parking permits providing no off-street parking space exists for the residence. No more than two permits will be issued per residential unit regardless of the number of vehicles registered in the name of eligible residents.

Non-resident owners of Village residential units are eligible for one transferable permit per unit providing there are no off-street parking spaces for the unit.

Village residents are also allowed to park with their Village parking permits in the Pacific Cove Parking Lot located behind the police department and anywhere in the “Neighborhood” parking areas.

Neighborhood residents are allowed one sticker for each vehicle registered to their address. Each residence is allowed two (2) visitor permits (on green placards). No one residence should have more than two (2) visitor permits no matter how many people live there.

Neighborhood residents are also entitled to special event temporary permits. Residents should submit their special event application at least one week prior to the event. The maximum is 25 temporary permits.
 
6. Q: Where can I get fingerprinted and how much does it cost?
A: Santa Cruz County Applicant Fingerprinting agencies include: Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office 454-3007, Cabrillo College Campus Police 479-6314, County Office of Education 479-5354, and the Watsonville Police Department 728-6001. Most of these agencies require an appointment and the fees vary
 
7. Q: How can I get a fix-it ticket signed off?
A: Any law enforcement agency can sign off a fix-it ticket. Some agencies charge a fee for signing off another agency’s ticket (call before you go). The City of Capitola currently charges $14.00 to sign off another agency’s ticket, unless you are a Capitola resident.
 
8. Q: How do I get a copy of a police report?
A:  You can either come into the police department or mail us a written request and your payment to our office. A copy should be ready within 10 working days. We charge $24.00 for a copy of the report.
 
9. Q: What phone number do I call when I would like to speak to a police officer but it is not an emergency?
A: Our non-emergency dispatch phone number is (831) 471-1141. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
